Bethel Resident, Catalyst Account Exec, Wins Multiple Awards in National Communications Contest

Catalyst Marketing Communications of Stamford won three awards on behalf of the agency’s clients in a national contest that recognizes the work of industry professionals

Catalyst Account Executive Thomas Renner won first, second, and third place in the National Communications Contest, which was sponsored by the National Federation of Press Women. The contest included more than, 1,800 entries, an increase of 200 entries from 2019. Renner is a former Bethel resident. 

“Tom’s background as a journalist consistently delivers for our clients,” Catalyst President Melissa LoParco said. “He knows what editors are looking for and how to get them exactly what they need, and this translates into great media coverage for our clients.”

Renner won first place in the category “Specialty articles – Ghost-written for someone else.” The article, published in Dry Bulk Magazine, detailed igus’ role in providing components for the crane industry that minimize machine downtime while also reducing costs. igus, based in Rhode Island, is the manufacturer of specialty plastic parts that are used in products manufacturing, automation, mountain biking, healthcare and more.

Renner won second place in the “Information for the Media – Media Pitch” category, on behalf of igus for the same project.

He won a third-place award for an article about a water station pumping project on behalf of The BILCO Company. The article was published in Civil & Structural Engineer. BILCO, based in New Haven, manufactures specialty access products.

Renner joined Catalyst in 2017 after working for many years in the local journalism industry. He worked at local news organizations in Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania where he also produced award-winning work while serving in management and reporting positions.
