Bethel COVID Positivity Rate Declines, Vaccination Clinic on Saturday

Bethel COVID-19 Positivity Rate Declines for 3RD  Week

There is finally a bit of good news to report: recent state figures show Bethel's positivity rate, or the rate of new COVID infections declined for the third week in a row, from a high of almost 12% a month ago, now down to 5%. There may be several factors involved, but health officials unanimously agree the two most important are masking and social distancing. Recent studies show double-masking, which helps ensure a tighter barrier around the nose and mouth, provides the greatest protection.

Vaccine Clinic

Bethel's vaccine clinic will begin its 4th weekend of operation this Saturday and is now scheduling enrollees in the 65 and up age group. As a reminder, visiting the clinic is by appointment.  To get on the wait list for an appointment, click here to access Bethel's online registration system: https://www.bethel-ct.gov/content/117/478/20695.aspx

If you or someone in your household has trouble registering online, call the Bethel Vaccine Infoline at 203-794-8523, or the Bethel Senior Center at 203-794-8593. Please note: the phone lines are staffed from 8am to 4pm Monday through Thursday and 8am to noon on Friday. Messages left over the weekend will be retrieved on Monday.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SHOP LOCAL

Now that the holiday gift-giving season is over, I just want to remind everyone not to forget our local retailers and restaurants. All of them have worked very hard to survive the enormous challenges this pandemic has caused. I am actually amazed at the creative new ways they have devised to serve customers. Nearly all have online ordering with curbside pickup. Some offer home delivery. Our local restaurants have devised new take-out menus with customized offerings to better serve stay-at-home dining.

Please keep up the good work and stay safe, everyone. Mask-wearing and social distancing is working!
