Bethel First Selectman Update: Booster Vaccines Now Approved For All Adults

Last week the Centers for Disease Control approved booster vaccines COVID-19 for all adults aged 18 years and older. The boosters are no longer restricted to older people or those with vulnerabilities, and all adults are urged to get the vaccine to help reduce the likelihood of infection, especially at this time of year when colder weather results in more indoor activities and close exposure to other people.

Booster vaccines are now widely available at most pharmacies, and the Town of Bethel is still offering free Moderna boosters in the General Purpose Room at town hall. The next two dates coming up are as follows:

Tuesday, November 23rd from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Tuesday, November 30th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm

COVID numbers continue to improve here in Bethel. As of last Thursday’s report from the Department of Public Health, Bethel is now experiencing fewer than 5 new cases per 100,000 population and the COVID test positivity rate is down to 1.3%. We encourage everyone to get the booster as soon as possible to help protect yourselves and your families.

All of us at the Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center wish you and your families a very happy Thanksgiving.
