Nicole Popham of Bethel competes on Eastern's track and field team in spring 2022

Eastern Connecticut State University's men's and women's track and field teams are amid their spring 2022 seasons of competition.

Among the student-athletes is freshman Nicole Popham of Bethel, who majors in Health Sciences and competes in middle distance.

Kathy Manizza, head coach for both teams, shared her insights on this year's season. "The men won the outdoor championships for the first time last spring and we are going into this year's season confident that we can repeat if everyone stays healthy," said Manizza.

"The women have been knocking at the door for a couple years, and after losing the cross country championships by one point this past fall, they are motivated for a great track season. We have quite a few strong new first-year athletes on the team, and they should help us tremendously."
