Bethel First Selectman Dan Carter's Friday Update: Budget Public Hearing, Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, Office Hours, and More!

Following up from last week, the public hearing on the budget will be on March 20th at 7 pm at Bethel High School. The budget documents can be located here.

I met with the veteran groups this week and the preparation for the Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is underway! The Bethel Patriotic Association in conjunction with the American Legion Post 100 will be hosting the annual parade and ceremony on Sunday, May 21st. Ceremonies will begin at 12:00 pm and the parade will step off at 2:00 pm. Groups or organizations who are interested in participating, please call 203-948-7924 and leave a message.

Along the same note, the veterans will be sprucing up the Veterans Hall in the Municipal Center. You may see a few missing items out for cleaning, but they will be back in place ASAP! If you haven’t been to the Veterans Hall, you are missing some amazing Bethel history!

I attended the Bethel Chamber of Commerce Networking group this week. Thanks to the businesses who attended and all the great feedback on how we can all work together to support Bethel!

I will be holding office hours on Wednesday, March 15th at 6 pm in Meeting Room B. Please come by and share your thoughts or ask questions!

If you plan to get your green on this week, don’t forget the St Patrick’s Day Flag Raising on Friday, March 17th at 9:00 am.

Last but not least, our resident meteorologist in the Highway Department is predicting 3.6 inches of snow tonight into tomorrow morning. The Transfer Station will have a delayed opening at 1:00 pm! Drive safe! We are tracking a major winter storm set to arrive early next week and will provide you with updates as we receive them.

Have a great weekend!
