On Saturday, April 1 Xcel Gold gymnasts of Kratos Gymnastics in Bethel, CT competed in the USA Gymnastics Xcel Gold Connecticut State Championships. The competition welcomed 427 qualifying gymnasts, all aiming to earn the prestigious title of Connecticut State Champion and a position on the Region 6 Connecticut Team.
All three competitors representing Kratos Gymnastics topped the podium as individual competitors.
Caitlin Riina, 14 years old of New Fairfield, CT earned 9th place on bars and beam, 2nd place on floor and 8th place all-around.
Alexia Suter, 14 years old of Ridgefield, CT had an uncharacteristically turbulent first event of uneven bars, but in true champion fashion, continued onward to compete her remaining three events, earning the title of Connecticut State Champion on beam, floor, and vault as well as 2nd place all-around. Her rocky start knocked her out of the running for the Regional team by a mere two tenths of a point!
Lilli earned the prestigious honor of moving on to represent Kratos gymnastics as a part of the CT All-Star Regional team, competing against the top gymnasts from CT, NY, RI, MA, NH, VT, & ME at the Shriner’s Auditorium in Massachusetts on May 20th.
