Bethel’s Byrd’s Books Holds 9th Annual Bookmark Contest

Entries accepted thru May 31st

How do you bookmark a page in your summer paperbacks on the beach or that all-important quotation you want to reference or your favorite go-to recipe in Mastering the Art of French Cooking? Perhaps you use a common everyday object like a paper clip or a receipt. Or you use a very special bookmark from Bethel’s Byrd’s Books.

Every year during the month of May, the popular bookshop holds a summer bookmark contest, in which both kids and adults submit a bookmark design based on a book they love. This year - it’s ninth contest - Bird’s Books has invited Bethel Arts members to choose winners and runner-ups in each of five categories/age groups - then they print 100 each of the winning bookmarks, just in time to complement those books you purchase to pack for vacation.

The winners  - pre-K - 2nd grade; 3rd - 5th grade; 6th - 8th grade; high school; and adult - get a $25 gift certificate to Byrd's Books and 25 of their bookmark to give away. The contest runs through Wednesday, May 31st.Entry forms are available at ByrdsBooks.com

There is one submission per person, and teachers may use them with students.  After the winners are notified, the results will be posted to Byrd’s Books mailing list and on Facebook. “We cannot wait to see your favorite books in art!” says Alice Hutchinson, owner of the Bethel downtown mainstay.
