Bethel's Byrd'sBooks Continues Spring Poetry Series with Volume II on April 14
Poetry in spring is as natural as spotting the first robin's red breast. And listening to a poet's words in spring at Bethel's Byrd's Books is equally so. The popular independent bookstore, located at 126 Greenwood Avenue across from historic P.T. Barnum Square, will host "volume II" of its spring poetry series on Saturday, April 14th at 3:00pm, featuring some impressive talent and their equally notable words.
The afternoon of poetry will feature Donna Marie Merritt, recipient of a Teachers’ Choice Award from Learning Magazine; Gail Carson Levine, a Newbery Honor recipient; Jen Sage-Robison, creator of Kitchen Table Writers; Marilyn Nelson, former poet laureate of Connecticut and also winner of both Newbery and Coretta Scott King Honors; and Doug Anderson, winner of a Pushcart Prize, honoring the best "poetry, short fiction, essays or literary whatnot" published in the small presses. The event is free and open to to the public. Light refreshments will be served and books will be available for purchase.
