Three questions with Jessica Lenihan, owner of Artista Beauty Studios.
Why did you start your business?
I started Artista Beauty Studios after opening my own Lash Studio about a year & a half earlier. I knew I had an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for the beauty industry and a strong desire to become my own business owner. My business partner, HAIRista Studio (Hampton VA) salon owner and high school friend Ebony Robinson and I came up with the idea to combine our business experience and open Artista Beauty Studios to offer other entrepreneurs in the beauty industry the opportunity to run their own businesses out of our salon studios.
I wish I could show (and give the confidence & motivate) more beauty industry professionals how much more beneficial being your own boss and running your own business is vs. working as an employee in a salon/spa setting.
How many people do you employ? Any youth or seniors from the community?
The Artista Team is comprised of all independent small business owners (independent contractors), operating their beauty businesses from studios and stations inside of Artista Beauty Studios. Currently, we have 3 hairstylists, 1 nail technician, 1 wax specialist & 1 eyelash extension technician/makeup artist.
