You're IT Note Kitchen and Bar!

Three questions with Tony Heslin, owner of Note Kitchen and Bar.

Why did you start your business?

25+ years doing the corporate grind was no longer motivating me.  I simply had a desire to establish a unique venue that combined two things I was passionate about - music and food.  I spent a year looking for the right opportunity and when I walked into what is now Note for the first time, I immediately knew that this great location on Downtown Bethel was where I wanted to be.  I created I place that I would love to go to myself and it’s thrilling that so many others love it also.

What is your best selling product/service?

Delivering a memorable dining experience that delights our customers.   I like to tell my staff that at Note, we put on a “show” for our guests and the key to the show is ensuring we deliver on all key aspects of what Note offers – Delicious Food & Cocktails, Inviting Atmosphere, Attentive & Fun Service and Soulful Music.  All of these are equally important.  When we do it right, our customers love the show and we know they will come back.

How many people do you employ? Any youth or seniors from the community?

We have some seasonality so our staff ranges between 20 and 25 people.  Several key members of the staff are students.  We’ve also worked with ability beyond disability and the State of Connecticut on providing jobs to people looking to return to the workforce after extended absences for various reasons. Note has also been a venue for local teens to showcase their musical talents by singing or playing instruments on our Open Mic nights.
