Bethel's Byrd's Books Hosts Making Comics in Antarctica with Karen Romano Young

Bethel author, illustrator, science communicator, comic creator, and deep-sea diver, Karen Romano Young has first-hand knowledge of the vastness of the oceans and the stark beauty of the Antarctic landscape.

On Wednesday, September 12th at 7:00pm, Bethel's Byrd's Books will host a talk and slide presentation about her journey to the ends of the Earth and the AnarcticLog she created in response, drawn as science comics she calls Humanimal Doodles, which appear regularly in Odyssey, the science magazine for kids. This special evening will take place at Byrd's Books' new location, 178 Greenwood Avenue, adjacent to The Toy Room and the nearby landmarked Opera House, across the street from the Bethel Public Library. Light refreshments will be served. To save a spot for this unique adventure, click here

Karen Romano Young has traveled on board the E/V Nautilus as a Science Communication Fellow and participant in The Ocean Exploration Trust’s Artist-at-Sea program, sending her comics and commentary ship-to-shore. In January 2019, the award-winning bestseller will travel back to Antarctica, and so her journey continues. To learn more, click here
