You're IT Bethel Tae Kwon Do!

Three questions with Anthony Ross, owner of Bethel Tae Kwon Do.

Why did you start your business?

I started martial arts training in 1986 with Master Almeda in the Bronx. My family and I moved to Bethel in 2007.  I am a Bronx Middle School Phys Ed Teacher and was training/teaching TKD down there until 2013, when we shut our doors. After a couple of years, I decided to start to look for a space to rent here in Bethel.

I landed in Bethel Fitness Gym and Studio. Tracy, the second owner, was great to work with me knowing I was just starting out. Marianne Patterson now owner of the gym, is also great and has supported me in my journey of running Bethel TKD.

What is your best selling product/service?

Martial Arts was a great outlet for me and kept me focused and has been a great motivational tool in my life. I was a major competitor on the East Coast from 80's to early 2000 and wanted to share TKD with the people of Bethel and my two sons. My youngest is now a Greenbelt. My oldest son (15) is autistic and inspired me to provide classes for children and adults with autism. I train special needs 1:1, some transition into group classes. Martial Arts is about making students reach their full potential no matter what obstacles they have in their life. It's about building character and building good people.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”

If I could I wish I could offer more TKD classes and dedicate more time to teaching TKD to Bethel. Juggling family and teaching/commuting to the Bronx to teach Middle School has been challenging. I look forward to expanding and eventually having more space and time to provide the people of Bethel with more opportunities to train with Bethel TKD.
