Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Studio J Hair!

Three questions with Jaime Rappa, owner of Studio J Hair.

Why did you start your business?

Since starting out my beauty career in 1992, I have worked in many types of hair salons. I continued my education over the years and finally became a master hair colorist. I loved working in a fast paced environment and long days and did this for most of my career.

However, times were changing and people are changing. It was time to slow down, and I was ready. My loyal clients needed more from me and I knew what I had to do. So, in 2016, I decided to get my own hair salon suite. I can offer my clients a more personalized experience during their visit. I no longer juggle several clients at a time. Each and every guest that has an appointment with me has my undivided attention from the moment they sit down until they leave. Win, win.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…"

I wish I could have 2 of me! Sometimes it is quite challenging running a business solo. Luckily, I have a booking website that allows people to browse my service menu, available times and book online 24/7.

Best selling product or service?

My best selling service is hair color. I always give a thorough consultation about what will need to be done, how long it will take, and price. And I always back up my work 100%. I never know what challenge I will face with a new hair color client but I am always ready.
