Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story.

You're IT True North Team Building!

Three questions with Cindy Crean, Chief Experience Officer & Co-Founder on True North Team Building.

Why did you start your business?

We co-founded True North because we both had a passion for experiential learning and development.  Michelle has over 20 years of experience in experiential learning.  My background is more corporate learning, marketing, events and working with global groups.  We also wanted more autonomy and control of our careers.

 Best selling product/service?

Our portable Office Escape Room (we can run up to 15 rooms simultaneously) is very popular. This includes a debrief with the group afterward. We also offer cooking events and game shows!

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We’ve worked closely with Jeff Taibe and Steph Sweeney at Taproot in Bethel and Jonathan Mathis from A Dash of Salt catering in Westport for many years, developing and working our cooking events.
