Three questions with Dana Benz, owner of Dana Marie Portraits LLC.
Why did you start your business?
I am a 30-year-old business owner and artist from Bethel, Connecticut. I draw hyper-realistic portraits with graphite and colored pencils. For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved to draw. Time just melts away when my pencil hits the paper. As a child, I was always looking at pictures in coloring books and drawing them freehand. In high-school, at fifteen years old, I had discovered my true love - portrait drawing. My goal is to provide a product as well as a service for the community and beyond. I use my client's treasured and priceless photographs and turn them into artwork for generations to enjoy. These make a perfect gift for Mother's Day, Father's Day, Holidays, Birthdays, Graduation, etc.
I wish I could provide the service to many, many people in our community and surrounding areas. I would love to give families and friends priceless, hand-crafted and one-of-a-kind artwork that would be incredibly meaningful to them. I draw portraits of your human loved ones and fur-babies as well. I also would love to commemorate those who have passed away to keep their memory more alive.
What is your best selling product/service?
My best sellers are pastel or colored pencil portraits. A lot of parents love for me to draw their beautiful children in bright, vibrant colors. I love capturing their unique expressions, personalities, innocence, wonder and beauty.
