Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Kat Drake Photography!
Why did you start your business?
I started Kat Drake Photography because I wanted to help people capture all the little moments. I think that too often, we reach a point where we wish that we had more pictures of a certain time in our life (I know I've had this thought way too many times). From this feeling, I worked to turn photo sessions into more of an experience to help capture genuine and raw moments. That way when people look back at their photos, it's not just posed photos, but real memories that bring back real emotions.
Best selling product/service?
Our best selling service is tied between our Love Sessions and our Life Sessions. Our Love Sessions are all about capturing the love and intimate moments between couples. Many times we adventure to the outdoors for these and find amazing spots off the beaten path. Our Life Sessions are all for families and the milestones that families go through. These sessions are especially popular during the fall/early winter (Hey, Holiday cards!).
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
As someone that has grown up in Bethel, utilizing local businesses to help support my business has been huge. I am extremely grateful to be able to use local establishments such as True Value of Bethel and Bethel Caraluzzi's in order to prepare/make each of my sessions unique. Part of our creative process is to edit sessions at Molten Java where the vibe inspires us through the editing (also, their coffee saves us in the mornings from late-night session planning). I am excited to turn to more local businesses as my own business continues to grow.
