Bethel's Byrd's Books Hosts CT Author Elissa Altman on October 18

Bethel's Byrd's Books hosts CT author Elissa Altman as she shares new book, "Motherland," Oct 18th

After surviving a traumatic childhood in 1970s New York and young adulthood living in the shadow of her flamboyant mother, Rita, a makeup-addicted former television singer, Connecticut author Elissa Altman has managed to build a very different life, settling in Connecticut with her wife of nearly 20 years. On Friday, October 18th, 7:00pm to 9:00pm, at Bethel's Byrd's Books, the author will share her story - to sustain a fragile mother-daughter bond, while navigating the turbulent waters of their shared lives and the practical challenges of caregiving for someone who refuses to accept it -  as she celebrates the release of her new book, Motherland: A Memoir of Love, Loathing, and Longing.

Elissa will share the process and inspiration for her book over refreshments. The event is free to the public. To save a spot and pre-order a book, go to https://conta.cc/2l2HA6l Byrd's Books is located at 178 Greenwood Avenue, adjacent to The Toy Room and the nearby landmarked Opera House, across the street from the Bethel Public Library. What better way to discuss mothers than with a martini in hand!
