Bethel Public Library to Offer Curbside Pickup Beginning June 1

Beginning June 1st, the Bethel Public Library will begin curbside pickup of Library materials

All curbside pickup will be by appointment only. We are committed to providing safe access to physical library materials, and we ask you to please follow these steps to receive your items, ensuring your safety and those of other patrons. You can request specific titles on hold through the library catalog or by calling (203) 794- 8756. If you do not have a specific title in mind and want to browse, check out our virtual browsing shelves here: bethellibrary.org/curbside-pickup

Once we have located your items, we will call you to schedule a pickup day and time. We may not be able to fill all your hold requests at one time; please be patient and we will do our best to get you the materials you are looking for. When we schedule your pickup, we will need your library card number. Once your appointment has been scheduled, your items will be checked out to you for three weeks and placed in a paper bag with your last name on it. Once you arrive at the library your materials will be waiting for you on a table outside the front entrance at your scheduled pick up time.

If you miss your appointment, please call the library, do not arrive at a different time, as we have appointments scheduled throughout the day and will need to schedule you a new pickup time. When you arrive, please wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines. If someone else is at the table, wait until they retrieve their bag before moving to the table to retrieve your items. Only touch the bag with your last name on it. Library materials are to be returned in the exterior bookdrop. Patrons are not allowed to give materials directly to staff at curbside or to leave items on the table. Once items are returned, please give 3 to 5 days for them to be removed from your account. Materials are quarantined for a minimum of three days before being handled by staff and recirculated to the public. Items will be checked in as of the date they are returned to the bookdrop.

If you have questions or assistance you can call (203)794-8756, email us at adult@bethellibrary.org, or send a chat request through the library website during library hours. Though the library remains closed to the public, please don't forget to check out our website, Facebook and YouTube for access to our electronic collection, online reference service, and virtual programs.
