We recognize that both quarantine and remote learning negatively impact the social and emotional well-being of our students. Students may be feeling socially isolated, and experiencing a range of feelings that are hard for them to regulate, including sadness, anger, and anxiety. It is important to recognize and validate the feelings that our children are experiencing.

Some degree of sadness and anxiety are normal and appropriate given the current circumstances. For example, feeling sad is a normal reaction to not being able to go to school and see friends. Negative feelings about school may be amplified by changes in family holiday plans, or by the cancellation of sports or activities that children used to enjoy outside of school. Our staff is available to support students who are struggling with social isolation or overwhelmed by negative feelings.

During periods of remote learning, parents/guardians may notice the signs of struggle first. Please reach out to one of our school counselors, school social workers, or school psychologists if you think your child needs support.
