Sue Tully’s experience in renovating houses over the last six years led to a decision to own a brick-and-mortar store that reflects her love of creating the perfect space for gathering in a home. From that was born Gather Boutique, which she opened two years ago in a vintage 1890’s wood frame building at 145 Greenwood Avenue in Bethel.
“Gather” is a fitting name. The store is an inviting, relaxing space with abundant natural light. Its layout and ambiance encourage shoppers to meander among displays of gifts for the home (often out of the ordinary), which Tully selects with an eye toward functionality and beauty. It offers a wide range of interesting choices - from gifts for a hostess or a new baby, to Easter décor and Mother’s Day presents.
Items that caught this shopper’s eye: hand-carved wooden trays, a spring wreath for the front door, throw pillows, alphabet scroll for the wall, little bowls, glassware, pitchers, wicker baskets, straw totes and, for toddlers, a tent. There are plenty of baby gifts – a giraffe-themed blanket, perhaps, or stuffed lambs, knit kangaroos, not to mention beautifully made clothing.
Gather Boutique is a treasure in Bethel’s historic town center.
