Greenwood Ave. to remain closed through the weekend

Please be aware that Greenwood Avenue is currently closed at the downtown railroad crossing for emergency track and grade crossing repairs, and will remain closed through the weekend.

A sinkhole was discovered directly beneath the tracks in the eastbound lane of the grade crossing, which will require the removal and replacement of about 30 yards of track, ties, and grade crossing platforms. Metro-North engineers are overseeing the project.

Railroad officials hope to have the crossing reopened and train service restored by Monday morning, June 14.

Metro-North is providing bus service to the South Norwalk train station while repairs are underway. Bethel police have established a detour route along South Steet during the repairs.
