Bethel's Pretty Little Things Expands and Hosts Dog Adoption Event

Shannon Anderson’s Pretty Little Things women’s consignment shop moved back into its original Grosso’s Corner location, 274 Greenwood Avenue in Bethel, a little over a month ago, and it has seen a lot of activity and changes since then.

The biggest change is size: With the takeover of two store fronts, it expanded from 1,000 to 2,000 square feet. In July, Anderson did her first live Facebook show, Shopping with Shannon, which featured summer items like beach cover-ups and casual tunics for online purchasing. “Now that I have done my first live show, I plan to do more, so watch my Facebook page for announcements,” she said. Pretty Little Things is in the final round for Best Consignment Shop in Connecticut Magazine’s Best of Connecticut ’21 competition. “That was a pure and happy surprise,” said Anderson. “Winners will be announced in the October issue.”

On Saturday, Aug. 14, Pretty Little Things will host a Dog Adoption Event from 11-1 in conjunction with Happily Furever After Rescue. The shop will also feature pet accessories, such as handmade food bowls, and will accept donations to Happily Furever After in exchange for a coupon toward a Pretty Little Things purchase.

What’s next for the consignment shop? “I am still organizing the store, and with the increased space I will be able to separate tops by category, such as tanks, tees, camisoles and so forth and will do the same for bottoms and dresses,” said Anderson. “I am also looking to grow the inventory of purses, shoes, jewelry and other accessories.”

Anderson looked back on the past year or so as the year of “plagues”. Pretty Little Things opened in December 2019, closed in March 2020 because of Covid, reopened in July, had a flood in the basement, lost power because of Tropical Storm Isaias, and in September was closed one week for renovations. Then a fire in October forced everyone out of Grosso’s Corner. The shop moved to a temporary location and finally returned to Grosso’s Corner this summer. “Throughout it all, my consignors, customers and the Bethel community have been very supportive,” she said. “I am so grateful and happy to be back home.”
