Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Fleur De Lis Antiques and Design!

Three questions with Dottie DeLuca, founder of Fleur De Lis Antiques and Design.

Why did you start your business?

I started my business (on the side) in my 20’s as a vintage reseller. When I retired as a professional Broadway dancer and Radio City Rockette at the age of 40, it was a natural progression to open up my own shop with an emphasis on interior design.

In 2011, I purchased the current building we are in now and also brought the business online and I have been going strong for 10 years this fall!

What is your best-selling product/service?

We sell mostly to interior designers but also to set designers doing TV and film. Our best sellers are high-end designer vintage furniture. Right now swivel chairs and desks are in demand.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We support Kosta Upholstery in Norwalk and Bethel Upholstery in Bethel when we need to recover something. We also support local carriers who transport our items all over the Tri-state area and North-East corridor.

Fleur De Lis Antiques and Design is located at 4 Long Ridge Road in Redding. Visit Fleur De Lis Antiques and Design online here, and make sure to check out their Facebook and Instagram pages as well!
