Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Vicki's Kitchen!

Three questions with Vicki Renda, founder of Vicki's Kitchen.

Why did you start your business?

After losing my full-time job due to COVID, I knew it was time to try something different. I realized I could turn a simple charcuterie board into something truly special for customers. Every charcuterie board I design is different and unique depending on the occasion.

What is your best-selling product/service?

My best selling product is my "Classic Charcuterie Board". This is a medium-size charcuterie board that is great for gatherings of up to 6 people. This board includes four types of cheese, three types of meat, seasonal fruits and vegetables, crackers, olives, honey, jam, and nuts.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

The main local business I use weekly is Caraluzzi's grocery store. I rent the commercial kitchen from Soulber Kitchen in Bethel to make my charcuterie boards. I also use Diversified Printing Solutions in Danbury for my marketing materials and promotional products.
