Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Kristen Jensen Productions!

Four questions with Kristen Jensen, founder of Kristen Jensen Productions.

Why did you start your business?

I officially started my business Kristen Jensen Productions, LLC. in early 2003. I decided to become a full-time photographer because I wanted to create my own business and work from home. I was a single mom back then and wanted to be able to care for my son and see him get to school and off the bus every day.

My passion for the digital visual arts came after years of being on the other side of the camera as an International FORD Model. This vast experience of modeling and acting for two decades and after traveling to over 30 countries led me to not only continued entrepreneurship but to the boutique visual production business I love and adore today.

What is your best-selling product/service?

My best-selling service today is a 50% combination of photographic images for small businesses, CEO, and entrepreneurs. The balance of my service offerings is stellar promotional videos, websites, logos, social media designs, and strategy. I also offer consultations on “Your Brand” helping small businesses and entrepreneurs navigate their visual online presence.

Another plus I offer is a full photography/video studio which has been renovated from an 1801 barn set on our property in downtown Bethel.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

I have a team of independent creative contractors that I work with on various types of assignments that are all in the Bethel/Danbury area. I also work with Lori Chauvin at TGS Direct for all Bethel printing services and Ray Flanigan at Bethel Photoworks for all my custom framing.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Yes - a zillion times over and over…ha! With the speed of digital technology moving at a rapid speed - it is highly important to stay on the cutting edge. And to stay current with my brand, my client's brands, and new trends. There is an “ART” to reinventing, revamping, and rebooting not only ourselves but our businesses, too.
