Bethel’s Byrd’s Books Celebrates 10th Anniversary of independent Bookstore Day on April 29

Bethel’s Byrd’s Books is happy to announce its participation in the 10th Anniversary of Independent Bookstore Day. The annual event will be held on Saturday, April 29th, and promises something for everyone.

Every year, on the last Saturday of April, Byrd’s Books celebrates Independent Bookstore Day across the nation with all the other indies. Along with an in-store celebration, the popular shop is a host of a 2-day book crawl, the Connecticut Book Trail. Special IBD merchandise, door prizes, giveaways and special pricing on select in-store stock — including "Blind Date with a Book" where you can pick a wrapped book for $2.50 and get a surprise title — will be among what’s on offer.

As Byrd’s Books owner Alice Hutchinson says, “This is the day to celebrate our local independent bookstores across the country - what a great day!”

Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) was established in 2013 to promote, celebrate, and highlight the value of the independent bookstore community. The day has been observed on the last Saturday of April every year since 2013. This year there are over 900 stores participating across the country.

Independent Bookstore Day is organized by the American Booksellers Association, a national not-for-profit trade organization, that works with booksellers and industry partners to ensure the success and profitability of independently owned book retailers, and to assist in expanding the community of the book.

Byrd's Books is located at 178 Greenwood Avenue across the street from the Bethel Public Library. The store carries only new titles: bestsellers, independent favorites, poetry, children's, a selection of deep discount books and more. Complementing its book collection, are Blqqqackwing pencils, LOQI bags, Decomposition journals, Folkmanis puppets, greeting cards, puzzles and gift certifcates in any value.
