Three questions with Kristin Coles, founder of Kristin Miceli, LMT.
Why did you start your small business?
I have been working as a massage therapist for 18 years. I’ve spent the past 9 years back here in CT, where I grew up, working at a massage center in Ridgefield. However, living in Bethel, word of mouth about my massages led me to recently start seeing clients here as well. I found a beautiful, quiet space where people instantly feel at home and calm walking through the door. I’m truly passionate about what I do, so I want to provide my services to the hard-working people of this great town.
What is your best-selling product/service?
Therapeutic massage is my most popular treatment. (Though I see clients for reiki, reflexology, prenatal massage, and cupping therapy as well) Therapeutic Massage is a key component of self-care. We can address a variety of issues including back pain, sciatica, headaches, TMJ, post-surgical rehab, postural disorders, and, of course, stress relief through relaxation. Treatments are completely customized to your individual needs, as nobody is the same.
I wouldn’t say I’ve necessarily “reimagined” my business. Though I have evolved my idea of what this work can do. There is often a misconstrued idea of what it means to get a massage. While it can be so lovely to go to a fancy spa where massages feel like a once-a-year indulgence, I’ve always been more interested in creating relationships with my clients- seeing people on a regular basis to see the compounding effect of repeated treatments, and facilitating deep healing. It’s mutually rewarding when people realize how powerful this work can be. And I hope to keep growing in this wonderful community!
