Brewster Bears Completely Outmatched By Yorktown Huskers, Blown Out 35-7 At Home

This past Friday Bears Field hosted their Section I Class A Quarterfinal game which pitted the home Brewster Bears against the visiting Yorktown Huskers, and sent the Bears Sectionals hopes packing on a rather harsh note. The Bears defense was no match for the Husker offensive attack as they gave up five touchdowns in a 35-7 loss.

The Bears scored on the very first drive as a result of a 26-yard pass from Joe Dominguez to Senior Paul Catalano for six, then the offense was silenced shortly after the drive continuing for the rest of the game. Senior Thomas Consolato rushed for 108 yards to go with 35 yards receiving in a night where the Yorktown defense hushed the attempts of the running back to run the ball through the middle of the field. Sophomore QB Chris Donohue went 7/19 from the field for just over 100 yards, and on the defensive end, junior lineman Franco Milano recorded a sack and blocked a field goal during the third quarter.

The Yorktown offense continually threatened throughout the game led by Seniors Dylan Smith, Travvon Johnson, and Keith Boyer. Smith had a stunning night on both sides of the ball. Smith had 243 total yards to go with four touchdowns on offense (Three Rushing, One Catch), as well as committing two sacks on defense. The Huskers kept to their mostly grounded gameplan which has worked for them throughout the season and will move on to play away at John Jay at 6:30 p.m. this Friday night.
