Putnam County Covid-19 update for April 24, 2020

Putnam County officials have released today's update on Covid-19 in Putnam County with a new format that provides more information on monitoring the reported cases. All information provided is as of 5 pm yesterday, April 23, 2020.

There are now a total of 942 (+42) laboratory confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Putnam County and 83 of those cases are actively being monitored by the Putnam County Health Department, 19 of which are in patients at Putnam Hospital Center. The Health Department reports that 857 cases are Released and considered "no longer Isolated/Qurantined" by the department as of today. "Released" cases includes cases that tested positive, were quarantined and monitored as well as possible cases that may have been exposed by a close contact with a positive case. No official government agency is actively tracking recovered cases at this time.

 The hardest hit demographic are residents between the ages of 30 to 69 years of age with the 30-39 age group surpassing the total of cases (162) in the 60-69 age range (128) over the course of the last week. Men account for 54% of the total cases in the county and woman account for 46%. The 40-49 age bracket accounts for 183 cases and 50-59 bracket for 201 cases. With 19 more tests administered yesterday, it brings the total of cases tested in Putnam County since March 1st to 2,289.
