Bull and Barrel Closing It's Doors

Bull and Barrel Brewery, the local, popular brewery and restaurant on Route 22 in Brewster has decide to close due to issues supposedly related to the Covid-19 pandemic as evidenced in their facebook post of earlier today.

"With a heavy heart and (due to) circumstances beyond our control, the Bull and Barrel has made the tough decision to close our doors. It has been an amazing 7 years. Wendy and I would first like to thank the amazing staff that made our dreams a reality and the community that supported us. A family has been created from the Bull and Barrel and that bond is stronger then Covid will ever be. We hope that this is not goodbye but see you later."

Within an hour of posting the announcement received almost 100 comments of sympathy and support from the community. Barbara Evans of New Fairfield wrote "I am soooo sorry and broken to see you guys close. Stay strong, hopefully we will see a GRAND reopening in our future"

Sara Amuso Quoma wrote "So shocked and sorry to hear this news! It was a great restaurant and brewery...I know you had such great plans! COVID has been horrible in so many ways! Best of luck to you!

The restaurant and brewery opened 7 years ago on the site of the former Sciortino's restaurant and offered numerous different brews produced in-house as well as name brand beers but it was the in-house brewery and restaurant that had people returning. It was also a popular music venue for up and coming local bands and musicians. John Crecco one half of the immensely popular local music duo "SoulMates" also offered condolences on the announcement "So sorry to hear this, many a great time at a truly unique place!!"

The restaurant also featured a mechanical bull-riding ring, the first in Putnam County and was named business of the month by Putnam County Economic Development Corporation in October of 2014 shortly after opening its doors.

The owners did not say what their future plans for the building might be at this time. More then one commenter hoped to see them return to the Brewery/Restaurant business in the future.
