Village of Brewster Trustees Accept Draft Comprehensive Plan

 

The Village of Brewster Board of Trustees enthusiastically and unanimously accepted the Draft Comprehensive Plan Update which is the written vision for improvement in our urban area.  A public hearing is scheduled for April 8, 2015 at Village Hall, 50 Main Street, Brewster, NY 10509 at 7:30PM.  The public is invited and encouraged to maintain their proven participation throughout the final adoption process.

The Comprehensive Plan is available for review in the Village office from 9 to 3 weekdays or may be viewed on our website www.brewstervillage-ny.gov

The Village of Brewster Comprehensive Plan Update benefits the Village and our region by creating jobs, raising our quality of life and providing sustainable economic growth.  Village Trustees, employees and consultants, Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, Brewster Schools, Putnam County Economic Development Corporation, Putnam County Chamber of Commerce, Brewster Chamber of Commerce, local Rotary Clubs, Covington Development, Tecton Architects, Goman & York, The Office of the Putnam County Executive, Putnam County Planning, New York State Economic Development Corporation, Hudson Valley Greenway, VHB Engineering, PACE Land Use Law Center, and our diligent committee volunteers and public participants who provided valuable contributions to the plan before forwarding it to the Board of Trustees for the formal approval process.

Mayor Schoenig said, “The Village of Brewster is continuing to transform the Village working with our partners and neighbors to move our community forward. We are undertaking the remaining tasks of zoning revisions and an urban renewal plan to bring the Village vision to fruition, advancing and modernizing housing and commercial opportunities using Transit Oriented Development (TOD) standards.”

Mayor Schoenig continued; “We are delighted with the broad participation and continued support of our vision for Brewster and welcome further review and recommendations to our draft plan.”
