Former Legislator Roger Gross Backs Byrne for County Executive

This week, former Putnam County Legislator Roger Gross endorsed Assemblyman Kevin Byrne’s candidacy for Putnam County Executive. (Byrne announced his candidacy for the office on November 12th)

“I enthusiastically support the candidacy of Kevin Byrne for Putnam County Executive. Kevin has been at the forefront of efforts to curb wasteful spending, control the expansion of state government, while respecting the rights and concerns of his constituents” Gross continued “Kevin Byrne's three terms in the Assembly have been marked by forceful initiatives to reduce tax rates, and remove burdensome regulations on local government and business. He is committed to less government interference and reducing a bloated bureaucracy.”

Kevin Byrne thanked the former legislator for his endorsement and words of encouragement. “Roger served and represented the Town of Southeast for years as an educator and as a public servant. He did an incredible job during his tenure and having his confidence in my ability to lead Putnam as County Executive means a lot.”

As a candidate for county executive, Kevin brings a diverse background of knowledge and management experience from his time working in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

Prior to his three terms in the state Assembly, Kevin worked in healthcare administration for New York’s largest private multi-specialty medical group. He also served as a regional director for the American Heart Association, deputy district director to former Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, member of the Putnam Valley Town Planning Board, and was an emergency medical technician for Westchester EMS as well as the Kent Volunteer Fire Department where he served three terms as president. He earned a M.P.A. from Marist College where he concentrated in healthcare administration and holds a B.A. from the University of Scranton where he majored in history and obtained dual minors in political science and military science leadership.

Kevin Byrne is a lifelong resident of Putnam County and resides in Mahopac with his wife, Briana (Messina) Byrne and their young son Braeden.
