
The Village of Brewster Mayor, James Schoenig, issued the following statement yesterday concerning the arrest of Wayne Peiffer, the Village Police Officer arrested on multiple charges by Federal Authorities earlier this week. The statement was posted to the Village of Brewster website.
"The Officer has been suspended indefinitely without pay. The Village will be cooperating fully with the investigation to the extent requested as it moves forward.
No further comment will be made at this time."
Wayne Peiffer, a Village of Brewster police officer, was charged by Federal prosecutors with conspiracy to transport minors and the transportation of minors, sex trafficking, conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act extortion, promotion of prostitution, use of interstate facilities to commit bribery and related conspiracy counts. He was arrested on Tuesday in his hometown of Highlands, NY and was arraigned before United States Magistrate Judge James R. Cho on Tuesday Afternoon.
