Carmel resident David J. Fitzgerald, 56, passed away on January 4, 2022. David was born in Albany, NY on October 2, 1965 to Clifford and Judith (Arnold) Fitzgerald. He married the love of his life, Karen Maguire, on July 5, 1986 in Brewster, NY.
He is survived by his beloved wife Karen, his two children, Mary Elizabeth Dwy and husband Sam, Ashley Marie Neuner and husband Michael. He is survived by his six treasured grandchildren, Riley, Logan, Lucas, Carter, Savannah, and Raelynn. His siblings, Clifford Fitzgerald III (Alicia), Jennifer Hay (James) and Stephanie Fitzgerald. He was predeceased by his brother John David Fitzgerald. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son. He loved his family; they were the most important thing to him. He loved NASCAR, hunting, cooking, and traveling to the Grand Canyon. He loved sports and was a loyal fan of the Arizona Cardinals. He was passionate about motorcycles and enjoyed riding his Harley. He was an active member of the New York Riders group that supported veterans and first responders.
David will be missed by everyone that was blessed enough to have known him.
A Visitation and a Celebration of David’s life will both take place on the same day, Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Cargain Funeral Homes, Inc., 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY.
Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and a Celebration of Life to honor David will take place at 3:00 P.M with Pastor Jay Jonson from Grace Community Church, Brewster, NY as the Celebrant.
A private cremation will take place following the service.
