It’s Easy to Raise Funds for the Support-A-Walk for Breast and Ovarian Cancer

Support Connection, Inc., a not-for-profit organization offering free support services to women and their families who are impacted by breast, ovarian, and gynecological cancer, announces there is still time to form a Team for their 2023 Annual Support-A-Walk, scheduled for Sunday, October 1.

The Walk will take place at FDR Park in Yorktown Heights, NY, but just as people nationwide reach out to the organization to utilize their services, people nationwide can be part of the Support-A-Walk. Support Connection invites people to walk at FDR Park, in their own town or city, neighborhood, or even on a treadmill at home.

It’s easy to raise funds for the Support-A-Walk. Participants can collect cash or checks, and they can also create their own online fundraising pages, making it easy to expand their reach and maximize their fundraising potential. Visit https://supportconnection.org/support-a-walk/ to learn everything you need to know. Pages can be personalized by the fundraiser, then shared with friends, family, colleagues via email and social media. Donations to these fundraising pages go directly to Support Connection. Fundraising pages remain active after the Walk, through the end of the year. People CAN raise funds without actually walking!

The Support-A-Walk was founded twenty-eight years ago by local residents as a way to focus attention on breast and ovarian cancer, and to raise funds for Support Connection’s free, year-round support services for those living with these diseases. Since the organization was founded in 1996, many thousands of people locally and across the country have received help from Support Connection, turning their fear into hope.

The Support-A-Walk is Support Connection’s most important annual fundraiser. 80¢ of every dollar donated directly funds their free breast and ovarian cancer support programs and services, which include peer counseling, support groups, wellness and educational programs, referral and information services, and a toll-free cancer information and support phone line. Support Connection does not receive funds from any national cancer organizations including Relay for Life, Susan G. Komen, or Making Strides.

Direct donations are also accepted from anyone who wishes to help. To learn more about raising funds or to make a donation, visit https://supportconnection.org/donate-and-fundraise/  or contact Support Connection directly: 914-962-6402, walk@supportconnection.org.
