Mass for Former Brewster Fire Chief, James O'Connor

James G. O’Connor, Jr., age 74, a lifelong resident of Brewster, NY, died Wednesday August 3, 2016 at his home. 

Mr. O’Connor was born December 19, 1941 in Mt. Kisco, NY, son of the late James G. and Catherine (Brennan) O’Connor. Jim honorably served in the US Navy. 

Jim married the love of his life, Mary Margaret O’Neill on November 21, 1964. Together they raised four children and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. 

Mr. O’Connor was a propane service man with Suburban Propane in Brewster, NY before retiring after 20 years at the age of 65. Once he retired he enjoyed life to its fullest, relaxing away watching the price is right with his dog Cocoa. Jim was a very active member in the Brewster Fire Department, having been a past chief. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird watching. 

Besides his wife Mary of 62 years, Mr. O’Connell is survived by his children; Joan (Peter) Milano of Danbury, CT, Julie O’Connor of Brewster, NY, James G. (Trina) O’Connor III of Carmel, NY and John (Susan) O’Connor of Shawano, WI, his sister Margaret Freeburn of Brewster, NY and his 8 grandchildren. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday August 6, 2016 at 2pm at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster, NY. Interment will be private. There is no visitation. Beecher Funeral Home, Brewster, NY assisted the family with arrangements.
