Shearwood And Douglas To Join “Bard” at Arts on the Lake

Carmel High School student, Lucas Douglas, and Theatre Program Director, James Shearwood, are scheduled to join the annual presentation of “new” Shakespearean scenes in Arts on the Lake’s "Bard on the Lake" on Saturday, November 19, at 8 pm.

Presented as a joint project of the Simon Studio, the Blue Horse Repertory Company and Arts on the Lake, "Bard on the Lake" is an evening of scenes from the plays of William Shakespeare.

Within this framework, Shearwood and Douglas join the project as an actor and a stage manager struggling to prepare the Porter’s scene from “Macbeth”.

“It is a play within a play,” said Shearwood, “in which the stage manager as an Italian immigrant is having trouble communicating with the ineptitudes of an elderly actor.” The elderly actor is similar to “Ralph,” a character Shearwood has previously portrayed at the Arts Center.

Douglas is president of the CHS Art Club, runs the Homework Help program at the Kent Library and is active in Carmel High robotics.

Blue Horse Repertory Director, Lora Lee Ecobelli, is bringing actors from the Albany region and Director Roger Hendricks Simon is bringing his New York City troupe to participate in this celebration of scenes from the English language’s greatest playwright.

Presented as part of its theatre program, Arts on the Lake members receive a $3 discount off the general admission price of $15. Student admission is $9.

Open to all, tickets may be purchased at www.artsonthelake.org. Reservations may be made at (845) 228-2685.

Arts on the Lake is located in the Lake Carmel Arts Center, 640 Route 52, Kent Lakes, NY 10512.
