Erin Meagher provided Brewster HamletHub with the following statement:
"I am not resigning as noted in my allocation in Carmel Town Court, there was no act of moral turpitude. I acknowledge my own fault and mistake, and have no desire to hurt the chamber and community I worked so hard to build up. It is a shame the chamber attorney and certain members rather than addressing mistakes worked in secret to prosecute me 'to the fullest extent of the law' rather than sit down and resolve the issues. I saw them for months, they told me I was doing a great job and don't change a thing. They worked with me till 10 pm Monday and fired me Tuesday morning, arrested that afternoon, and then had had the meeting to decide to fire me. I certainly did wrong, but when you look at the money and time spent, the public statements made, there is more to it than correcting my transgressions. All of this could have been resolved in a civil manner and to avoid costly trial fees and further embarrassment of all parties the plea agreement was reached with the Putnam County District Attorneys office."
