New York State Police and 511ny.org reports this morning that just after 8 a.m., a vehicle traveling south on I-684 in Katonah left the roadway and struck an overhead sign post in the median between the northbound and southbound sides of the highway at exit 6. The accident has caused the closure of all three southbound lanes between exit 8 and exit 6 until a NYS Dept of Transportation crew could respond and repair the post to ensure the sign was not going to fall. New York State police in Somers at 10:30 a.m. report that the operator of the vehicle was not injured in the crash but that I-684 will be closed for most of the day due to the fact that the vehicle striking the post has weakened the sign and it is in danger of falling at this time.
