Dutchess County residents with disabilities now have a new resource to help them find a job suited to their skills and interests, as CAREERS Support Solutions (CAREERS) now assists individuals in lower Dutchess County. CAREERS has been providing employment training and placement services to people with disabilities throughout Westchester and Putnam Counties since 1987.
On Course for College is a new program CAREERS is making available to students 18 years or older who have a documented disability, are referred by ACCES-VR and meet the admission requirements of a college for a degree or certificate program. Students who participate will receive assistance with admission, health and financial aid forms registration and course selection as well as personalized access to campus information including tutoring, student rights, accommodations and resources. Staff is available for one-on-one social support and will provide services tailored to the unique and changing needs of each participant, including problem solving, coping skills and stress management.
