Brewster Sports Foundation Postpones Annual Gala

Brewster Sports Foundation Redirects Efforts, Gala Postponed

It is with mixed emotions that the Brewster Sports Foundation (BSF) Board made the tough decision to put off the next fundraising gala. This is partially due to the Brewster Central School District's current construction projects affecting the District’s ability to move forward with improvements to the baseball and softball fields until the completion of current construction. The members of the BSF Board have instead decided to utilize its volunteer resources to work collaboratively with the school board, administration, facilities and athletic director and establish a new Athletic Fields Renovation Committee to maintain focus on the needed field improvements and renovations to insure safe and quality fields for our student athletes. The BSF invited coaches and recruited members of the baseball and softball community to work together on the Athletic Fields Renovation Committee. Funds raised to date for the purpose of improving the baseball and softball fields will not be released until the school district is able to move forward with the projects and once the plans and timeline have the consensus of the Brewster Sports Foundation.

"The gala event has picked up momentum in recent years, and it is truly a celebration of the community and youth athletics," states Robin Greene, President of BSF, "I hope that community members will continue to support field improvements and athletics in Brewster, as well as get involved in the process." We would like to acknowledge the local businesses, corporate sponsors, and community members who have given generously to date, and encourage your continued support and advocacy for this valuable cause. The BSF Board determined that the next fundraising event would be considered as the timeline moved closer toward the implementation of improvements to the baseball and softball fields.

The Brewster Sports Foundation (Foundation) was established in 2005 and has held ten gala fundraising events to date. Last year, $36,000 was raised. The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for- profit organization, was created to encourage and provide funding for the highest quality facilities for the Brewster schools and community, serving as an advocate and financial supporter for the turf field, the track refurbishments, wrestling room renovations, and most recently, fundraising for baseball and softball field improvements and safety. The BSF also provides ongoing account services for the Brewster High School athletic teams through their bank account and boosters program.

The Brewster Sports Foundation welcomes interested community members to join. Please check out our website www.brewstersportsfoundation.org for more information on the work done thus far by BSF, or contact us at brewstersportsfoundation@gmail.com.
