Celebrate Earth Day at the Putnam County Land Trust’s Annual Benefit Dinner & Auction

The Putnam County Land Trust announces its Annual Benefit Dinner and Auction on Sunday, April 22nd. This year’s event has added significance as it occurs on Earth Day.  This is an opportunity for the public to support the organization’s continued mission of preservation, education and public access to natural areas throughout Putnam County.

The PCLT has focused its efforts most recently in the Ice Pond Area which extends from the Town of Southeast north into the Town of Patterson. This area is rich in natural resources.  It serves as a resting area for thousands of migratory songbirds and waterfowl that come here to feed every spring and fall.  An inventory conducted by Daniel Atha of the NYBG identified 549 plants in the Ice Pond basin. The pond and surrounding wetlands are rich in resources for these migrating and resident species.  Much work needs to be done to continue its protection and preservation.

The event will begin with cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres featuring live entertainment followed by a gourmet seated dinner.  Throughout the evening there will be raffles, some surprises and a live auction courtesy of Bill Flash.

The dinner will take place at the Centennial Golf Course at 185 John Simpson Road in Carmel, NY.  Festivities begin at 4:30 pm with a cocktail hour and a Cash Bar.  Seating is limited and reservations are required.  Take advantage of special dinner pricing of $65 per person if paid by April 9th.  After April 9th, a ticket goes up to $70.  To make a reservation, inquire about advertising space or donate goods or services for the auction, call 914 621 8466 or e mail events@pclt.net
