Local High School Student Creates Volleyball-A-Thon To Raise Money For Adolescents And Young Adults With Special Needs

Ava Fazio, a junior at Ridgefield High School and varsity volleyball player, has been working with the adolescents and young adults at Healing Hearts Recreational in Stamford, Connecticut for the past several months to create a Volleyball-A-Thon at Scalzi Park in Stamford on Sunday, July 15th at 4:30pm.  All proceeds raised from this event will go to Healing Hearts Recreational, a non-profit organization benefitting those with special needs.

Ava said, “I wanted to use my love of volleyball and the skills and teamwork the activity promotes to help these young adults.  Volleyball is great sport where you have to work as a team and everyone on the court needs to be present and in the moment during a game.  It helps with concentration and fosters team spirit.”  During this past spring and summer, Ava has been teaching the Healing Hearts participants volleyball skills culminating into a Volleyball-a-Thon fundraiser.  Ava says, “Our goal is to achieve 20 consecutive hits over the net. This will be a huge accomplishment for the participants, and the public can show support for the efforts of the Healing Hearts participants with a donation of any amount. Your contribution will have a big impact for these special adolescents and youth!”  Donations can be made by click the following link:  https://www.facebook.com/donate/176907589828227/
