Arc Putnam New York Awarded $15,000 in Grants from NYSARC Trust Services To support 15 new recreational opportunities for people with
disabilities in Putnam County.

This year, Arc Putnam has been awarded $15,000.00 in grants from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support the Arc of Putnam’s
recreation programs. This grant allows us to provide additional recreation programs
and activities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The NYSARC grant funded 15 distinct recreational events, some of which are reoccurring memberships and classes, and 10 recreational ideas that can be used every day. Some of the
recreational events funded this year include; Upstate stay and museum experience, theater performances, tickets to seasonal community events, bowling league memberships, therapeutic horsemanship, and weekend stay on a working farm. Other notable new experiences that were made possible by the NYSARC grant funds was a membership

to join a local choir group, trip to Atlantic City, New Jersey and helping an individual celebrate her life achievements with a party at the golf club grill. The NYSARC grant also funded the purchase of an iPod touch, pool table, play station console system, and glider bench chairs. The glider bench chairs were purchased for several houses where many of the individuals enjoy being outside. The gliders will enhance the outdoor space where many like to spend time. They provide a soothing swaying movements that many individuals will enjoy and utilize to unwind during the warm weather months.
