What does Patterson Rotary Do? Camp Sundown is just one example

You might wonder..what is Rotary? What do they do up in Patterson? Is it a bunch of crabby old men sitting around? Well - no it isn’t! We have crabby women too! (just kidding.). We are a bunch of people who meet and make things happen for our community and we need you to join us. I will be highlighting some of the many things that our club and Rotary do to make our community and world a better place.

What we do: The Feast for XP

Each year during July, the Xerodermapigmatosum (XP) Society holds a camp for kids that are afflicted with a disease that prevents kids from being in the sun or under certain kinds of artificial light, risking the onset of fatal cancers.
Camp Sundown is 2 one week sessions. Kids with XP and their families get together for camp that has activities at night. About 50 people are at each session.

Our rotary club has been very involved with Camp Sundown for the past 22 years. Besides donating to XPS twice every year at our annual give-always, we provide a meal that the camp has nicknamed ‘The Feast’. Most of our members make or donate a specialty dish. Some of the dishes include Shrimp Cocktail, Smoked Chicken Pieces, Steaks from Clocktower Grill, Pulled Pork Sliders, Mac & Cheese, Spinach Casserole, Mashed Potatoes, as well as a large selection of desserts from Brewster Pastry, Homemade Cupcakes, S’mores and everything in between.
