Over 1,500 Attend 3rd Annual Brewster Music Festival

The sun was shining for a perfect summer day for the Third Annual Brewster Music Festival on June 8. Over 1,500 attendees joined the Cultural Arts Coalition at Wells Park for a family day of music, food, and fun. Providing seven hours of a diverse mix of music were local bands Riiza, Blue Alien Mystic, Special Sauce, Fishkill George & TFM, and The Libertine Project. Students from Spotlight Arts, a local youth theater company, sang the national anthem. In addition, solo artists Brian Dallas Field, Brian Larney, David Powers, Greg Jacquin and David Kraii entertained the audience in between sets. People were tapping their feet, singing and along and even breaking into dance. K Bays Sound Concepts provided the amazing sound.

Surrounding the field were over 25 vendors selling their wares including Ann Koplik Designs, LuLaRoe, Sarah’s House of Health, M|F Designs, and Brewster Girl Scouts just to name a few. For the kids, Fun Zone Inflatables provided large bouncy houses that were busy the entire day. But the big hit for many adults was the lawn games provided by Always Big Fun. Attendees could be found playing corn hole, Jenga, and Connect Four. The competitiveness was clear, but in the end, it was the pure enjoyment that won out.

Food was also a hit with Outlaw BBQ, Not My Wife’s Cooking, Bertolla’s and Uncle Louie G. A true testament to the wonderful food was the vendors leaving at the end of the day with empty trucks and the visitors leaving with full stomachs.
“The Brewster Music Festival is one of the Cultural Arts Coalition’s major fundraisers to support our efforts to restore the Old Town Hall Theater located at 67 Main Street in Brewster,” explains board member Margaret Carey, “While the restoration is in progress, we currently offer a variety of events at the Studio Around the Corner. The space is available for rent and is used by many community organizations.” Once restored, the theater, with its excellent acoustics, will accommodate audiences of 200 or more and provide space for music concerts, theater productions, dance performances, film screenings, lectures, and meetings.

The event would not be possible without the support of our sponsors Century 21, Law Office of Andres D. Gil, Feehan Insurance, Music Cottage, Confident Homes, HamletHub, EA Test Prep, Apple Moms, Putnam Dental, Jacque’s Giant Music Show, Amedeo, Marano, CPA, Master It Media, and Putnam Visitors Bureau.  Special thanks to the Village of Brewster, Brewster Fire Department, and Putnam County for providing services for the event.

The team of Paul Toscano, Frank Funigiello, Judy Marano and Margaret Carey put together an amazing day. If you missed it, fear not because next year’s Music Festival is already on the calendar for June 6, 2020. If you can’t wait that long, the Cultural Arts Coalition is busy planning the Brewster Fall Festival set for September 8, 2019. See you there!
