Dance of joy:

Dance/movement therapy for people with Parkinson’s Disease

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month and Joy of Dance is offering a FREE group session, 10-11 a.m. on Friday, April 28th, 2017 followed by light refreshments at Seven Star School of Performing Arts. Joy of Dance is a dance/movement therapy group for people with Parkinson’s Disease. Registration is required. Please contact Marie Carstens at 347-742-6591 or email at Mccarstens21@yahoo.com.

This on-going group meets every Friday, 10-11 a.m., at the Seven Star School of Performing Arts 509 Route 312, Brewster, NY, 10509.  Marie integrates movement with imagery, supports natural coordination, vitality, and expressivity all toward enhancing well-being and health.

“Based on the empirically supported premise that the body, mind and spirit are interconnected, the American Dance Therapy Association defines dance/movement therapy as the psychotherapeutic use of movement to further the emotional, cognitive, physical and social integration of the individual.” – American Dance Therapy Association

Marie invites you to move at your own comfort level and ability, as well as express feelings safely and playfully. Most importantly, this dance therapy group aims toward revitalizing ourselves while we dance together.  Join me, a dance/movement therapist with 20 years of experience helping people move more freely and fully in body and mind.
