Ridgefield's Pride in the Park Event Tomorrow!

June is Pride Month - a time to celebrate our LGBTQ+ community, allies, and families

For the first time ever, Ridgefield will be holding its first annual Pride celebration on Saturday, June 15th from noon until 3pm in Ballard Park with a march around the park at 12:30.

“We picked Ballard Park as we wanted to have it centrally located, easily accessible, and highly visible. We want people to know we are here and that we are a part of the community,” Pride in the Park organizers explain.

Bring a picnic, blankets, and friends and family, just like you do for the CHIRP concerts. Everything at this family-friendly event is free (including the cotton candy!). There will be music, games, activities and crafts for everyone of all ages. In addition, there will be a number of informational tables. GLSEN and TCC (Triangles Community Center) will be at the event to help promote awareness and understanding.

In these times of social upheaval and division, it is essential that we come together and support each other. The LGBTQ community is one of our vulnerable populations. It is important that we work to lift people up rather than pull them down. Pride in the Park provides the perfect opportunity to do so, so feel free to join in the festivities. There will be tons of exciting activities, including:

  • Button making to promote tolerance and inclusion for all minorities
  • Tye-dye - first come first serve
  • Temporary Tattoos
  • Face painting by Enchanted Garden
  • Ribbons on a stick - AKA Rainbow wands
  • Paper Hat making
  • Bead bracelet making
  • Corn hole games sponsored by BGCR
  • Can Jam AKA Frisbee Golf
  • Potato Sack Races
  • Hula hoop station
  • Collective Rainbow Handprint
  • Rainbow - Photobooth
  • Nail Painting
  • Cotton Candy Station
  • Sandbox digging station
