Putnam Service Dogs 2nd Annual Golf Tournament

Help Us Provide Free Service Dogs To People With Physical Disabilities, Other Than Blindness

Friday, June 8, 2018 at Centennial Golf Club in Carmel, NY.

Putnam Service Dogs, which trains and provides free service dogs to people with physical disabilities, other than blindness, is hosting its 2nd Annual Golf Tournament at Centennial Golf Club, Carmel, NY, Friday, June 8, 2018.

The event promises a full day of activities including a putting contest, 18 holes of golf, lunch, dinner, and beverages. Over 25 prizes have been assembled by the hard-working Golf Committee to be raffled off. Golfers will meet the Putnam Service Dogs’ six dogs in training.

Jake Jacobson, a professional tour player from 1982-1984, and a fixture for more than 20 years at the Ridgefield Golf Club, will be helping each team. Jake was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2011, and now uses a wheelchair. He continues to teach golf, and will be using a Stand Up and Play Paramobile. Rosie Tombolo, Kennel Manager at North Shore Animal League America (NSALA) will be the keynote speaker at Dinner, speaking on how the dog rescue population has changed over time, and what challenges NSALA, the world’s largest no kill animal rescue organization, faces. Putnam Service Dogs champions rescue dogs, and adopted 2 of the 4 pups in their February 2018 Puppies-In-Training Class from NSALA.

Putnam Service Dogs’ 2nd Annual Golf Tournament is Sponsored by Janet Miller, Honorary Chair of the Event, and an avid golfer for over 50 years. She’s now retired from golf but was the first single woman member of Broadmoor Country Club in Seattle when she joined in 1965. Her handicap never dipped below 18, but she loved working on it. Kohl’s and Ralph Burdick’s Blacktopping are also sponsors of the events, as are Tee sign sponsors Kobackers, Value Village, PCSB Bank, Fast Lane Car Wash, Nature’s Select Premium Pet Food, and Summit Security.

Centennial Golf Club, Carmel, NY, is a 340 acres, 27 hole championship course designed by Larry Nelson, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and Winner of the U.S. Open and two PGA Championships.

The deadline to register is May 25th, either on putnamservicedogs.org, or call 845-490-0096. Non-golfers are welcome to attend the cocktail/dinner portion of the event ($60), and single golfers are welcome. We’ll match you to a foursome.
