Village of Brewster (VOB) Film Festival Opens August 25th

The Village of Brewster (VOB) Film Festival will be holding its annual event for an unprecedented five days at the end of August.  The Film Festival will criss-cross Putnam County starting August 25th in Cold Spring and ending September 2nd in Carmel.  The event will once again showcase some great artistic venues in Putnam County and will also be bringing world class entertainment to its locations.

This year's headline event will be Nosferatu - Symphony of Horror. This is the original 1922 silent film that will have its original score played by a 17-piece orchestra at The Independent Film Center at Drew Methodist Church in Carmel.

"This is something we have been trying to do for five years.  To finally have an event of this caliber at the Film Festival is a dream come true.  If you google events of this type you see them at large main stage companies throughout the United States. To put together this supremely talented orchestra, gain the film rights, and create this event has taken many years of work," says Bob Dumont, Festival Chairman

The orchestra will be conducted by Nathan Brewster, a Southeast resident and conductor.  Tickets are $22.50.  The event takes place on Friday, August 31st at 7:30 with an encore performance on Sunday, September 2nd at 7:00 PM to close the Festival.

The Festival will begin on August 25th in Cold Spring at the beautiful Chapel Restoration at 8PM and show two hours of independent films on a 14-foot screen outdoors. "The view of the Hudson and great films are just an incredible combination. We are excited to be working with the Chapel once again," Dumont  continued.

The VOB Film Festival picks up on the following Thursday, August 30th to open its full Labor Day weekend of events.  Included during the weekend events is an animated film series that is second to none.  Saturday morning cartoons includes a continental breakfast and cereal.  "Saturday morning cartoons is always a fun event. The animated films are outstanding and are a great way to start any day.  It is an event I look forward to every year!" says Stacy Dumont, Festival Chairperson.

The Film Festival will once again hold a free outdoor screening at Ryder Farm at 8PM on Saturday, September 1st. It will also screen full days of film at Arts on the Lake on September 1st and 2nd. The Festival closes in Carmel at Drew Methodist Church with an encore screening of Nosferatu.

"We have held some really great events this year. We had a Virtual Reality Night, Laser Blues and now Nosferatu and a world class lineup of great independent films. We couldn't be more proud of our events this year and there is more to come!"

Tickets for all events can be purchased at the door or online at VOBFilmFestival.com.  Advance purchases are highly recommended. For further information, you can contact the Festival at 845 729 5107 or email at info@vobfilmfestival.com.
